Angela Gkerekou, former Minister of Tourism
Angela Gerekou was born in the island of Corfu. She holds a degree from the School of Architecture of the University of Rome, Italy. She has worked as an Architect for the Hellenic Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, on special programs for the renovation of underdeveloped areas of Athens and she has also worked out a great number of architectural projects for the island of Corfu.
Angela Gerekou also has a significant career in acting. She studied in Derek Jakoby’s “London Academy of Performing Art” in London, UK and she was a member of Federico Fellini’s student group in Italy. She is a volunteer participant in various social initiatives concerning environmental protection, youth culture and sensitive social groups.
She was elected Member of the Greek Parliament with the Greek Socialist Party of PASOK, for Corfu, in the 2004, 2007 and 2009 national elections. During November 2009 – May 2010, she served as Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism. She was President of the Special Permanent Committee of the Regions and a member of the Standing Committee on Cultural and Educational Affairs and member of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament.
Angela Gerekou is married with one daughter and she speaks Italian, English and France.

Prof. Dionysios Chionis, Democritus University of Thrace
Dionysios Chionis currently holds the position of Professor of Economics at Democritus University of Thrace, where he also serves as Dean of the Department of Business Administration. He obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Strathclyde and he also holds an M.Sc. in Economics from Glasgow University and an M.Sc. in International Banking and Finance from University of Edinburgh, while his first degree in Economics is from the National & Kapodestrian University of Athens. He is the author of a large number of landmark journal papers and books.
Professor Chionis has served as a national expert (in investment evaluation) in the European Commission. He has served as Economic Advisor of the Greek Prime Minister, Chair of the Board of the Hellenic Center for Investments and General Director of the Greek Railway Company. He also has an in-depth macro-economic involvement in the tourism industry, having served as Research Director at the Greek Chamber of Hoteliers and the Hellenic Research Institute for Tourism. During his professional carrier he has been involved in various national and international projects such as "Athens 2004 Invest in Greece" attracting foreign direct investments, financial evaluation of railway infrastructure, investment appraisal for tourism foreign direct investments, etc. Dionysios Chionis has been interviewed and participated in expert panels in national and international television media (including BBC, CNN, Sky, Mega and ANT1) in numerous occasions, as well as in leading national and international newspapers.
