Doctoral Colloquium
The Doctoral Colloquium/Workshop was part of the 2nd Advances in Hospitality and Tourism Marketing & Management and was held on the 31st of May 2012 (one day before the official start of the Conference).
The Doctoral Colloquium/Workshop was Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Catheryn Khoo-Lattimore of Taylor University in Malaysia, and was aimed for postgraduate students as well as for their supervisors, undertaking research in any area of tourism, travel, leisure and hospitality. The purpose of the Workshop was to provide a forum for doctoral students to discuss their proposals for thesis research and work in progress with peers, colleagues, and with leading supervisors and scholars in the fields of tourism, travel, leisure and hospitality.

Dr. Erdogan H. Ekiz is an Associate Professor in Al-Faisal Universiy, Prince Sultan College for Tourism and Business, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is also Director of Khaled Al-Faisal Tourism Research Centre. His PhD on tourism and hospitality management is from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) from American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute and has over 13 years of teaching experience in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Cyprus, Turkey, Malaysia and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is co-founder and managing editor of (International Journal of Management Perspectives. With expertise in service failure, consumer complaining behavior, tourist behavior and culture, Dr. Ekiz has published over 130 journal articles, book chapters and conference papers. Before academia Dr. Ekiz had worked in fast-food, food and beverage and hospitality industries.
Dr. Anestis K. Fotiadis is a visiting professor of National Chiayi University, Master Program of Tourism and Management. In 2007, he was appointed Head of the Infomatics and Management Department at the General Hospital of Katerini. He is a certified trainer of the National Accreditation Centre for Continuing Vocational Training (EKEPIS) (www.ekepis.gr) and he has been conducting seminars for the National School of Public Health (www.nshp.gr), the Hellenic Organization of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and Handicraft (EOMMEX) (www.eommex.gr), the Manpower Employment Organization (www.oaed.gr) and Adult Education Centre (www.ideke.edu.gr). Dr. Fotiadis has published more than 25 research papers in international academic journals along with two books. He researches and lectures in the field of Rural Tourism, Sustainable and Green Development.
Dr. Catheryn Khoo-Lattimore’s PhD is from the University of Otago, New Zealand. Her work is predominantly focused on the needs of consumer and tourist groups utilizing qualitative research techniques. Besides authoring and co-authoring books, book chapters, journal articles and industry reports, she has been invited as speaker to international conferences. Dr. Khoo-Lattimore is both a reviewer and editorial board member for a number of journals. She is also a corporate trainer to many Malaysian public-listed companies and government organizations. Fulfilling her role as the Director of Education for the Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE), Dr. Khoo-Lattimore is also the author of “Secrets of Promising PhD Scholars Revealed”.
